RecWizardTutorial Database

The sample reconciliations that are used in this tutorial are included with the RecWizard program. You can do anything you want to add to or edit this database to see how the program works. Since it isn't your permanent accounting file nobody will ever know you were there practicing before you created your perfect reconciliations.

Make any changes you like and try any technique you desire. This is your own personal reconciliation playground.

One important thing to know about the tutorial database is that all the reconciliations have been prepared as of the month ended December 31, 2010. If you look for reconciliations for any other dates you probably won't find anything. Make sure the Reconciliation Date is always set to December 31, 2010 to view the sample reconciliations.

Changing databases.

When you first begin using RecWizard the program will open the tutorial database - which is called RecWizardTutorialReconciliations.mdb. The database is located in a folder that is in the same directory as your program. That folder you are looking for is:

C:\Program Files\RecWizard\Database

To use a different database, start RecWizard as you normally would. The RecWizard login dialog window opens.

NOTE: If you are already running RecWizard you will see a menu section titled System Maintenance with a menu item titled Change database location. Click on the Change database location item to get to the RecWizard login.

After you click the Browse... button, the following dialog will open:

Just use the normal windows commands and techniques to find the database you want to use. Click on Open and you will then be prompted for your User Name and Password as shown:

The default User Name and Password for all databases (until you change it) is:

User Name: admin
Password: recwizard
